What is HGE? HGE stands for heavy gold electroplate - in particular with 18k gold. It was a method used in the 1970's and 1980's and is a much thicker coating and higher quality method of jewelry making than today's gold plating practices. The cool thing about vintage is that after 50+ years these rings have maintained their quality!
